The Fund owns a portfolio of crematoria, cemeteries and woodland ceremonial parks which offer a natural alternative to conventional burial and cremation options. It has also acquired a bereavement services consulting business which advises on new cemeteries and crematoria as well as extensions to existing facilities and a publishing business which is the leading supplier of Bereavement Information Books and Hospital Guides to hospitals and hospices throughout the UK

The Darwin Bereavement Services Fund (DBSF) is a core Social Infrastructure solution for institutional investors, particularly UK Local Authority Pension and Treasury funds, to acquire UK bereavement services assets which are actively managed to deliver sustainable, long-term free cash flow.

Positive Environmental and Social Impact
The businesses owned by the Darwin Bereavement Services Fund are at the forefront of driving sustainable environmental change within the bereavement services industry. 
- CDS Group are helping drive environmental innovation in the bereavement sector through their work with the Environmental Stewardship Group. 
- They were instrumental in the introduction of the UK’s first electric cremator, which is owned and operated by Memoria. 
- CDS Group are also advising a number of local authorities on the design and installation of other forthcoming electric cremators as well as a second Memoria electric crematorium which is currently under construction.  
- Affordable Funerals are helping to reduce the financial burden of funerals by offering a range of funeral plans and funeral packages which are below the industry average of £4,000.
- At the GreenAcres memorial parks, there is a central aim to operate all the sites in as sustainable a way as possible.
- GreenAcres runs a range of memorial events andworkshops to help people process and come to terms with grief and loss.
